Do you guarantee your products?

We guarantee our housings to be free from defect for one year. Due to the nature of our industry we are unable guarantee abuse or anything contained within the housing (i.e.- your video camera). We are very strict in our testing procedures and insist our customers test their housings before they start using them with their video camera. We also suggest many preventative measures in our instruction manual to ensure the safety of their video equipment.

Are they waterproof?

Each camera housing is pressure tested before it leaves our warehouse thus ensuring a leak free housing. We also insist our customers personally test the housing before putting their video camera inside. This is to make sure no damage occurred in shipping and that the customer knows how to properly seal the housing.

Is your product durable?

Our camera housings were designed for action sports. The Epic Elite and Sport models are made from a high strength polycarbonate. For the Pro model housings we use a 1/4" thick cast acrylic. In the testing of our products we've taken them in high surf, river rapids, and even jumped off cliffs with them (Epic does not recommend anyone to put themselves in dangerous/life threatening situations such as the ones mentioned.). All of our lens material is treated with an abrasion resistant coating. This coating helps to prevent against dust, dirt, and sand scratches.

How does it work?

We have designed Epic Camera Housings with a patent pending mechanical pause/record button. The button is fully adjustable to fit your camera. The button is activated by a flexible rubber end cap. By simply pressing on the end cap you will activate your cameras pause/record button.

How can I see what I'm filming?

When you are in the water we recommend using the “point and shoot” method that we discuss in the instruction manual. It takes some practice and so a lot of customers have found that they can extend the LCD screen out, flip it 180 degrees, and than close it back into the video camera (LCD screen is now facing out.) This gives them the ability to see what is being filmed through the side of the housing. You can still use the “point and shoot” method and occasionally look over the side of the housing to make sure you are getting the shot.

What controls do I have access to?

Epic Camera housings were created for use in extreme/action sports. Do to the nature of these sports we learned through research and testing the only control the videographer needs over his/her camera is the pause/record function. We have found that in action sports it is important to be aware of your surroundings and still capture the shot.  However some of our customers are using waterproof cell phone bags to attach the video camera remote to the side of the housing.  This gives them access to most features on the camera.

What about using a wide angle lens?

Epic Camera Housing's unique stabilization tray allows the housing to adjust so that it is possible to add a wide angle lens and/or an extended battery. It is easy to determine whether your video camera will still fit within an Epic Camera Housing. Add which ever extras you desire to use with your video camera and take a measurement of the overall length and height. Please make note that it is important that your wide angle lens does not interfere with your camera’s base (You can find this out by placing your wide angle lens onto your camera. Then set your camera on a table. If the camera sits flat on the table it does not interfere with your camera’s base. In other words your golden.) . Now input the measurements into our compatibility calculator by clicking here.
